8 December 1977 -- Chuck Mangione Releases Feels So Good

“Feels So Good” -- Chuck Mangione

OK, I confess. This bit of music can claim no historical significance to the best of my knowledge. It owes its inclusion here to my admiration of the music and its composer’s talent. When I first heard this album as a teenager, I had no idea what a flugelhorn might be, but, to be fair, who did in 1977? Nonetheless, I instantly fell deeply in love with this unique sound.

The greatest thing about this great album? The title track! An ecstatic celebration of joy somehow compacted into slightly less than ten minutes. Chuck Mangione edited his composition the following year, reducing his creation to about three and one-half minutes, turning it into a major hit. However, I think us entitled to hear the original version in all it full glory and grandeur, for it is a thing of beauty. It will indeed make us feel oh so good!

  3. LOL. Neither could I, Ms. Lily, but I certainly made a fool of myself in the effort to do so.
